Food and water distribution
During the drought we distributed food and clean water directly to the households with the least.

What we found
Drought had left families in the area without reliable access to food or clean water. Local volunteers who knew the neighbourhood identified the households with nothing left.
What we did
Between March and July 2025 we distributed food and water supplies door to door, working through volunteers already living in the community.
We did not record how many households received supplies, or what the distribution cost in total. At the time we were running the response ourselves, without external funding or a reporting system. We also did not obtain consent to publish photographs of the people involved, so none are shown here.
From New Beginning onward we record cost, dates and reach for every project, and obtain consent before photographing anyone.
The project we're running now
New Beginning is helping single mothers in Mogadishu open shops of their own.
