New Beginning
Ten families in Mogadishu are preparing to start businesses of their own — with set-up funding, equipment and training from Hope & Future.
A shop is a stable income. A stable income means a mother can feed her children, keep them in school, and stay.
Mothers with no way in
In Mogadishu, many single mothers struggle to support their children. There is little access to stable income, and almost none to the small amount of capital it takes to start a business.
Hope & Future is helping these mothers open small shops. We provide the start-up funding, the equipment and basic business training, so each mother can build an income that continues long after our involvement ends. Our staff and volunteers work directly with each mother — choosing the location, setting up the shop, and staying involved as it finds its feet.
Fund a shop
Every shop opened is one family with an income of their own.

This is an initial planning budget, not a claim that these are final market prices. The cost of each livelihood will depend on the activity the family chooses, local prices, premises and supplier quotations. Before funds are committed we obtain and keep the relevant quotations, receipts and registration costs. The split of four grocery, three clothing and three tailoring businesses is a budgeting scenario, not a fixed allocation.
